Wed Feb 8 Dr Adam Bates kicks off this years programme explaining about the Opal Bug Count survey, and the ways we can explore, study, enjoy and protect our local environment.

Wed March 14 Some members may recall we visited Meadow Farm at Feckenham, some years ago. The owner, Rob Cole, actually designed Malthouse Garden.. He and his wife Diane will be telling us all about Meadow Farm Nursery. Venue: Independent Living Centre
Wed April 11 Nick Williams, from the Butterfly Conservation explains how to identify and encourage butterflies into our gardens together with habitat management. Venue: Independent Living Centre

Wed 13 June Bring along your surplus bedding plants, seeds or cuttings for a BARBECUE EVENING and FREE PLANT SWAP Admission £3 per person - by ticket only. Wed 12 Sept Jane Wingfield, proprietor of Hogfields Hedgehog sanctuary explains why hedgehogs are good for gardens and if you are adopted by a hedgehog how to look after one! Venue: Independent Living Centre
Wed 10 Oct Professor Ian Trueman, who comes highly recommended by Richard Billingsley as being an entertaining and informative biologist, will be talking about flora in Birmingham and the Black Country.

Malthouse Garden Sessions
Gentle gardening sessions for the over 50’s are available at Malthouse Garden, in Smethwick on Mondays and Fridays.
A chance to take a little exercise in a beautiful and fully accessible garden, while meeting others in a friendly group and supported by a horticulture therapist.

Salop Drive Garden Sessions
Join regular gardening sessions throughout the week for adults across Sandwell. Hands on gardening supported by fully trained staff, enable you to learn a bit about gardening, healthy eating, and healthy living.
Garden sessions are tailored to suit your needs, and based around the daily tasks of the working market garden.
Groups can book visits to the market garden by arrangement, and hands on activities can be arranged. The site also takes visits from Surestart Groups, playschemes, community groups.

National Gardening Week 2012
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the UK's leading gardening charity, is launching National Gardening Week for 16 - 22 April 2012, to get the nation growing. The RHS is calling on nurseries, plant centres, clubs, charities, schools and media to join in and celebrate the week by opening gardens, holding events and providing advice. National Gardening Week wants to encourage everyone to take part and grow flowers, shrubs, trees, fruit, herbs and vegetables.
