Sandwell Allotments

These allotments offer a great resource to Sandwell residents, enabling people to come together to grow food, flowers, get fit, meet others and enjoy the rest and relaxation of the outdoor life.

Allotments are all owned by Sandwell MBC and either run by the council or by the active Allotments Association Council.

Services Offered

Any individual can rent an allotment plot for a small yearly fee, and then get on and grow their own vegetables and flowers, often with the support of other plot holders. Some allotment sites already have well established links with local schools, giving schools support in setting up and running their own plots.

Other sites are interested in hosting schools on their plots and are keen to encourage younger people to get involved and learn more about growing. The allotment plots can be a great way to involve young people in healthy eating, physical activity and in meeting the aims of the national and school’s curriculum.

Facilities

Sites vary in the facilities they offer. Some have basic facilities, and others have meeting huts, small shop and toilets, some have raised beds. Accessibility varied.

Participation

Allotments are available to rent by Sandwell residents.

Booking

To rent a plot, or find out which site is nearest to you or your school you can contact the Sandwell Allotments Officer. She can also link you with sites that are keen to engage schools on their plots.
